Ann Dapice, PhD, (Lenape-Cherokee)

Director, Education and Research

Ann received a PhD in psychology, sociology and philosophy from the University of Pennsylvania. She has taught and served as administrator at a number of universities-University of Pennsylvania, Widener University, Penn State University, Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College, Tulsa Community College, Rogers State University, and Goddard College, teaching courses in the social sciences, philosophy, and Native American Studies.


She is Founder/Director of the Institute of Values Inquiry. She consults with the University of Pennsylvania on development of Native American Programs where she is Founder/Chair of the Association of Native Alumni. Her cross-cultural and interdisciplinary research has been reported in professional journals, books, and academic presentations regionally, nationally and internationally, and in newspapers, radio, television, and the internet. Recent publications include book chapters in an International volume on Violence and Abuse by Praeger-Greenwood Publishers: “Stalking of Indians, Coincidence or Conquest?”; “Violence in the Brain”; “Betrayal, Revenge and Religion: Selective Denial of Violence”; “Bullying Then and Now”; and an “Afterword” for a book on Pennsylvania Indians by Bucknell University Press. Previously, she published book chapters on addiction for Praeger-Greenwood. She has served as officer and on the Elders Council for American Indian Chamber of Commerce and two terms as a member of the Board of Directors of Mental Health Association in Tulsa where she serves on the Education Committee.


Presently she serves on the Board of Directors for the National Indian Monument and Institute, American Indian Arts Association and as a Commissioner for the Greater Tulsa Area Indian Commission. Recent awards include the Interfaith Award sponsored by Tulsa Metropolitan Ministry, Jewish Federation of Tulsa, Islamic Society of Tulsa, Oklahoma Center for Community and Justice, and Tulsa Interfaith Alliance (2008) and the Dr. Ralph Dru Career and Professional “Dreamkeeper Award” presented by the Greater Tulsa Area Indian Commission (2011).
